| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Inverness Thistle 1 Ross County 0 Ross County’s exit from the North of Scotland Cup on Saturday at Inverness, at the hands of Thistle, was not a very satisfactory one. Beaten by one goal to nil, at one time it looked like anybody’s game and right to the end there was every chance of a draw being forced. The game was anything but interesting. The County never struck the form expected of them, and Thistle’s football was also mediocre. Hart and Cowie were weak and Aird got no support whatever from them, while Albert Macrae, the big Thistle centre-half, gave the County centre-forward no rope. Hart was not in good health throughout the week, and his play reflected it. He tried hard to get the forwards going, but nothing went right with him, and consequently the sting was lacking from the front line. Lobban was a conspicuous success in goal, giving a masterly display. At back, Mackenzie was not happy, while Roddy Munro, after he settled down, performed exceptionally well and went through a great deal of work. The half-line was sound throughout, but overworked, with Urquhart outstanding. The wing men never got a chance to shine, while in the second half, all the balls Aird got could be counted on one hand. Truly it was a very tame Ross County compared to the side which eclipsed Forres in the first round by 8 goals to one! |
