Match Report	Report from the Northern Scot. Ross County 4 Elgin City 5 Elgin City inflicted upon Ross County at Dingwall on Saturday their first home defeat of the season by the odd goal in nine. The game was an interesting one to the last minute, and Ross County showed themselves a keen and dangerous team, with just that extra ounce of enthusiasm which often means so much. It is sufficient to say in proof of this that they were three goals down almost halfway through the second half, but had Elgin on level terms again fifteen minutes from the close. Elgin were in fact rather lucky to take away both points. One could only admire the fight put up by the homesters, and sympathise with them in their defeat. Ross started off with a series of hot raids which took Elgin by surprise, and had it not been for the services of Purle, who brought off several saves, they might well have been one or two goals down in the first five or ten minutes. Eventually the visitors got a hold of the game and began to get the better of things, but Ross opened the scoring after fifteen minutes, when Munro headed up a long ball on the right, and it was a shot which trickled into the net. Within a few minutes, however, Elgin commenced to show their superiority, monopolised play to an extent until another fifteen minutes passed before they equalised, Rothnie rushing through a perfect cross from the right. Just on the interval Gordon gave them the lead with a magnificent shot from well out, which crashed into the rigging before Gray could attempt to hold it. Elgin came on in great style on the resumption, and within twenty minutes seemed to have put the issue beyond all doubt with a three-goal lead. First, Paterson nipped in to meet a cross to make no mistake at a chance, and shortly after Longbottom found the net from a corner on the right. Ross looked a beaten team at this stage, but they suddenly came to life when, about the middle of the half, Dave Mackenzie, who had taken the leading position, flashed the ball through from a long pass. In rampant form, the County went on to score two more goals in quick succession. Morrison, on the extreme right, matched Gordon's great first-half goal with a long-distance shot, which Purle failed to stop, and Dave Mackenzie got the equaliser in typical fashion minutes later. Both supporters and players nearly went wild with excitement, to which the climax was added by Duncan's winning goal. Elgin went on to lead the attack, and in his first raid he slipped to Duncan who, although not well-placed, let loose a surprise shot which Gray watched enter the net well out of his reach. City continued to have the better of matters in the closing stages, and Grant missed a fine opportunity, when after a run he sent past from close in.
