Buckie Thistle 2 Ross County 1

THERE must be some doubt as to Ross County’s ability to sustain a 90-minute effort in recent games, which they have lost in the last quarter after leading most of the way.
A question of pace comes into consideration, for the ability to pace oneself over the period is essential. A first half flourish is all very well, but endeavour and originality must be sustained into the critical final fifteen minutes.
Recent games have shown County are just not matching their opponents in durability, and are being caught out. Perhaps it is a bit late in the season now for stamina build-up, a gradual process in most sports, but essential, for while opponents grow in strength and power the longer a game goes on, County seems to wilt.
Another thing, quickness off the mark is essential for that extra yard or two of speed could prove vital. And what does this all boil down to? Simply, County could be a lot fitter than they are.
For Buckie, Saturday’s victory was sweet revenge for their 0-3 Qualifying Cup defeat at Dingwall. Cammie Robertson gave County the lead in the 18th minute, when he cut in on goal on a perfectly placed ball by Gordon Connelly. Their half-time lead was thoroughly deserved.
It was not until the 73rd minute that Buckie equalised, when Robertson snapped up a poor clearance from defence and cracked the ball home.
The winner came in the 85th minute from Galbraith.
