| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Inverness Clachnacuddin 0 Ross County 4 Saturday’s display against Clach in the first half produced some outstanding free-running football with well-directed passes. Jimmy Laidlaw is not exactly match-fit, but he did enough in the first 45 minutes to impress. Seldom did he waste a ball, which he always placed to the advantage of a colleague running on to it; and he can shoot when given the opportunity. Jamie Macpherson continues to improve as he gains more match-practice, and he too showed up well in the first period. There is no doubt he would have welcomed the relief of being substituted in the second half. Jamie made good use of the ball, and has ability to size up a situation and run into position. Young Ross Cathcart again proved a most reliable substitute for the injured Mike Ure, and one feels he could have done full justice to the position pre-Mike Ure! The County defence has been showing up well throughout season, ably backing up each other, and throwing forward support with their colleagues up-front, all the time displaying good understanding one with another. Gordon Connelly secured a hattrick, two goals in the first half and the third late on, as County pressure built up for a final fling. Barry Wilson, who came on as substitute, was put through brilliantly by Connelly for his side’s third goal. |
