| Match Report | Report from the Press and Journal' Ross County 0 Caledonian FC 5 CALEY coasted into the final of the Tennents Highland League Cup against Keith by brushing aside a Ross team who never got into the game. And it was two former Dingwall players who did all the damage. Caley captain Alan Hercher who started his senior career at Victoria Park, had a brilliant headed hat trick and Alan Duff who left County for Caley two seasons ago, was also on the mark and led the Ross rear guard a merry dancet Ihroughout. County were always struggling and went behind as early 13th minute when HERCHER headed home a Duff cross after Caley had forced four comers a row. County were quick to reply and Nero Macdonald, their recent signing from Caley, hit a post with a snap shot. The Inverness side, however were in command and Duff was putting his former mates through the mill. Caley's Davidson was booked for a late tackle on Macdonald as County resumed strongly, but the second half was only five minutes old when Wilson ROBERTSON crashed home a second for Caley via the crossbar. John Macdonald replaced Jackson in the 53rd minute, but it was Caley again with HERCHER heading home a right wing corner in the 58th minute and four minutes later the Caley captain notched his hat-trick. With 15 minutes left, DUFF made it five. |
