| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Nairn County 1 Ross County 1 ACCORDING to reports, Ross County should have won this match comfortably, if they had taken all their chances in the first half. They took an early lead when Alan Gair ran on to a short pass back from a defender and had the simple task of rounding the keeper and scoring in the fifth minute. The visitors maintained constant pressure throughout the period, but, besides missed chances, they found keeper Billy Neilson in top form. Incidentally it is worth remarking that Billy has Ross-shire connections, his father, also Billy, being the son of the late Sandy Neilson, SSPCA Inspector, Muir of Ord, a keen Ross County supporter, and Mrs Mary Neilson, Muir of Ord. A revitalised Nairn gave Ross County several anxious moments in the second period, and had due reward with a goal in the 55th minute. MacGillivray harried the Ross defence into making a mistake and was in good position in the box, when a cross from Forsyth dropped at his feet. |
