| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Inverness Clachnacuddin 1 Ross County 3 FROM the start of their league match with Clach at Grant Street Park, Inverness, on Saturday, Ross County showed that they meant business, and, but for a short spell early in the second half, when they relaxed somewhat, they maintained steady pressure on the Clach goal. Dave Jackson opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, when he shot the ball low past the advancing Rudkin. Then in the 27th minute Billy Ferries hit home a first-time volley from 15 yards, the ball lodging in the net just inside the far post, the keeper well beaten. In the 35th minute, Innes pulled a goal back, although there were strong claims for offside. The second half did not present as entertaining fare, with Clach striving gallantly to equalise. In the 83rd minute, however, the game was finally put beyond the Invernessians’ reach, when Jackson collected a pass from Albert Allan and placed the ball wide of Rudkin. |
