| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Brora Rangers 0 Ross County 1 ON CHRISTMAS EVE, County travelled over the Struie to Brora, and returned with three well-earned points. The return match takes place at Victoria Park, tomorrow (Saturday), but on this occasion, County will be without Gordon Connelly, who is facing a two-match suspension, just when he is again showing the form which won him “Young Player of the Year” last season. County had the measure of their opponents at Brora, but found the home side’s use of the offside trap most frustrating. However, Brora were bound to slip up sometime, and they did five minutes from half-time, when Albert Allan’s cross field pass sent Billy Ferries streaking through a gap, catching the defence flat-footed with the speed of his thrust. He had the ball well under control as he cut in and blasted it past the keeper. Earlier in the first half, Brora had much the better opportunities of scoring. On three occasions John Suttar made brilliant saves, and on the fourth, a defender cleared off the line. |
