Match Report	Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Rothes 0 Ross County 3 ROTHES and Ross County deserve great credit for serving up such fine, entertaining football in spite of the weather and ground conditions on Saturday. Ross County did everything right until they got in front of goal in the first half, and although eventually scoring three goals, they should have doubled their total over the whole period. The main action revolved around Billy Ferries, who had just returned from trials with Colchester. The park was firm with a greasy surface, just right for his style of play. Although somewhat subdued in the first half by his left-back opponent, he resumed after the interval on the left wing and began to take right-back Slater apart. In the 53rd minute, Ross County scored their first goal when Cammie Robertson whipped across a strong ball, which fast-running Chris Somerville took in his stride and thumped home. When Barry Wilson came on for David Jackson, Billy Ferries returned to the right wing, but the Rothes full-back found that he had to contain a more confident Ferries. In the 66th minute, Ferries scored his first goal when he picked up a ball on the right wing, waltzed past three opponents, and from 20 yards hit a left-foot shot past the keeper. Young Sandy Macleod had a great shot at goal, but it was stopped on the line by his own striker, Nero Macdonald, who could not get out of the way of the projectile. With nothing to lose, the Rothes defence pushed upfield, leaving Ferries virtually unmarked. Receiving the ball on the halfway line, Billy left two players floundering in his wake as he ran in on goal and scored in the 89th minute.
