| Match Report | Report from the Press and Journal. Fort William 0 Ross County 1 ROSS COUNTY were worth their one-goal victory. Although Fort played some neat football at times, they suffered from last season's problem of poor finishing. On 14 minutes, Fort combined well and MacDonald's fierce 15-yarder was brilliantly parried by Suttar. A minute later, Cowie let fly after a corner and Murphy headed off the line. At the close of the first half, Ross went close again when a powerful header from Lemmon looked just over the bar. Five minutes after the restart, Ross were gifted a goal. Substitute MacGillivray was too short with a pass back and Donald MACKAY pounced to bury the ball in the corner of the net with Fegan static. Fort became more competitive after this reverse and Dunlop was booked for an over-zealous tackle on Ferries. In the last 10 minutes, the home side went all out for the equaliser and Dennison came nearest with a raking 25-yarder. Ross could have gone further ahead after Mackay eluded two defenders but shot wide. |
