| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Huntly 1 Ross County 0 SATURDAY'S game at Huntly was expected to be a tough one for Ross County, and sure enough it was as the Club met with their first League defeat for some considerable time, and will have to be on their mettle on Saturday first, when Peterhead, for so long League leaders, visit Victoria Park. At Huntly the boys held out well and stoutly until the 84th minute, when Wayne Thornton scored with a cracker of a shot from 30 yards, which whizzed into the net. Just prior to this, Brebner had been ordered off for head-butting Gordon Connolly. Earlier still, Ross County claimed a goal when the ball appeared to have crossed the line, but the linesman was several yards “off line” and could not confirm the claim. Throughout, County had a slight edge on play and came close to scoring on several occasions. Several of the County players did not play to their potential, but in top form was keeper Suttar, who suffered a rib injury in making one save. He could do little to prevent the winning goal. |
