Caledonian FC 4 Ross County 0

Ross County suffered their first defeat of the season at Inverness on Saturday, when Caley put up four goals without any reply from the visitors. The struggle, owing to Ross County’'s difficulties in fielding their goal-scoring eleven through the illness of one or two players, could hardly be described as an even one. Frank Nimmo and T. Urquhart were definitely missed from the team. Macbeath, Dingwall, the former Ross player, now a clever Caley winger, delighted the crowd with some smart tactics.
The Ross men won the toss, and Caley were early on their toes. The visiting forwards rarely looked like scoring, as they were well held by the Caley halves and backs. In the first 12 minutes two Caley goals were registered by Bolt and Mitchell. When Browning shot well after a foul for “ hands " against Caley, Bruce coolly cleared.
County entered the attack and went all out to reduce Caley’s lead, but wild shooting denied them success. Ogilvie tried hard to put more strength into his forward line, swinging across a high ball that skiffed the bar. Newton's work saved his side time and again from further disaster, and half-time arrived with Caley in the lead by two goals to nil.
The second half showed little improvement in the standard of play., A long shot from Browning went bye, and Rooney, after cleverly beating three men, put the ball inches wide. Caley retaliated and a move by Bolt to Macbeath looked dangerous. However, Newton, though harassel by Mitchell, saved well. Bolt secured Caley's third goal with a rocket shot from 3 yards, and a few minutes later, number four came from Mitchell.
