Peterhead 7 Ross County 1

Ross County’s run of bad luck continues. At Peterhead last Saturday, they went under with a score of one goal against their opponent’s seven. Earlier in the season they were running on a more equal footing with the men of the North-East at the top of the League table, but the old end-of-season bogey seems to dog the Ross men’s footsteps once again.
County won the toss, but Peterhead were first to attack, and J. Paterson sent a ball through to W. Paterson, who crossed to C. F. Smith, the latter making no mistake with his parting shot. As play warmed up, both sides strove hard to gain the initiative. Newton had a magnificent save when Strachan sent in a rocket-like ball. Peterhead went further ahead through Hay, and five minutes later C. F. Smith scored number three, a picture goal. The homesters went on to score with apparent ease, marksmen being Hay, W. Paterson, Martin and J. Paterson. As the interval whistle went they had a clear lead of seven goals to nil.
On resumption County strained hard to make amends, and set the pace, with Bremner scoring from a Simpson pass. Though still full of life, and greatly improved on their first half play, they were unable to alter the adverse balance in goals. Urquhart was prominent throughout this period, with some smart runs.
