| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Fraserburgh 2 Ross County 1 During the first half of this game at Fraserburgh last Saturday, Ross County took a lead of 1-0. A strong wind which played tricks with the ball upset both sides, however. It was only in the last five minutes of the game that success came to Fraserburgh, to put them in the lead. Ogilvie and Browning were clever raiders, but the powerful defence put up by John Dutch kept them at bay. After twenty minutes' play, Browning broke through to give Ross the lead with a lightning drive. Fraserburgh were making little headway against a strong wind, and with the visitors forcing the game, the Broch defence had to work hard. Near half time, Taylor took the ball up with a dazzling run and squared to Macdonald. The winger crossed but none of the forwards connected. Fraserburgh took up the attack on resumption, but for a period Findlay and Nimmo were successful in keeping Davidson and company at bay. In fifteen minutes the home men equalised, when Davidson scored from close in, and success was assured five minutes from the end when Erskine, right-back, went up to add strength to the forward attack. He gained possession near the penalty spot and drove the ball through a number of players into the back of the net. |
