Inverness Clachnacuddin 3 Ross County 2

This proved one of the most dramatic games of the season, and certainly the best that has been staged at Inverness for many a day. No one would have grudged Ross County a well-earned point. Indeed it was only a penalty save by Macdougall at the last minute that foiled them. It was little wonder that the Clach supporters carried their goalkeeper off the field at the close. He was the man who stood between his team and the loss of a very valuable League point.
Both teams played excellent football, with Macbeth and Clark on the County right wing the best men on the field. Time and again they had the Clach defence in a tangle, only Macdougall's brilliant hands preventing them from scoring. Clach took the lead after five minutes, when Mackenzie, after seeming to lose control, regained possession and beat Newton with an unsaveable drive. Ross fought back strongly, and after Clark had equalised, MacGrory added a second to put them in front at the interval. In the second half Clach went all out, and Roy equalised after Seigal had got through on his own. It was anybody's game after this, and when Clach were awarded a penalty Seigal smashed home the winner.
