| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. 30th Training Battalion 0 Ross County 2 At the last moment the Polish soldier centre-forward was unable to go to Elgin to assist Ross County. Clark took his place and A. Macdonald went to inside right. Ross County won by two goals to nothing and deserved their win. On the other hand, the soldiers had only themselves to blame. What good ball control they served up came to grief against a strong County defence, in which Patience was supreme. The visitors had a definite pull at inside right, where Ferguson was versatile and cute as he always can be. A. Macdonald at inside right was equally as deceptive, and the long passes forward of both always spelt danger to the soldiers' defence. The home forwards never looked like scoring, except for twice when left-winger Scott cut in on his own. In defence the soldiers were well served by Macdonald, Pett and Crawford. A flashing angular drive by Ogilvie off a Clark pass gave the County a well deserved lead. A few minutes before the interval Clark added a second. In the second half there was no scoring. Play deteriorated as the game progressed and by the end most of the spectators had left the ground. |
