Match Report	Report from the North Star. Nairn County 0 Ross County 2 The depleted Ross County, which included two juniors in the attack, Macbain and R. Macdonald, gained a sound win over Nairn County at Station Park, Nairn, on Saturday. Against a Nairn attack, which was also under strength, the Ross-shire defence played a sterling game. Mackenzie was sound in goal; Spence and Jack two grand backs; while the halves, Macdonald, Forsyth and Wood, were in their best form. The home forwards were completely subdued by the visiting half-line. Birrell, inside left, was Ross-shire’s best forward, although his clubmates in the front line all played well in the first half. They showed, however, leg-weariness through lack of training in the other period. Nairn were well served by Webster, Clunas, Bowie and Tulloch. In the opening minutes, Macbeath, centre-forward, forced Webster to save cleverly in order to clear his lines. At the other end, Mackenzie was called upon to clear from Mackay. In an attack on the home end, Ross County went ahead Bowie heading through his own goal, The visitors continued to impress and Mackenzie, outside left, was near the mark with a fine shot. When hard pressed Nairn defence wavered badly, while their attack was woefully weak in finishing, their shooting being very erratic. Ross County did the bulk of the attacking and it came as no surprise when they went further ahead, Macbeath smartly netting a perfect cross from Macbain. Then Bowie, Nairn’s centre-half, had a fine effort stopped by Mackenzie, while Webster cleared brilliantly from Macbeath and W. Mackenzie. Just on halftime, R. Macdonald, inside-right, made Ross County’s total three. Immediately after the resumption W. Mackenzie sent inches past the left upright with Webster well beaten, Nairn put more spirit into their play, only for Tulloch, outside left, to shoot weakly past when well placed. The visiting defence repeatedly held up the home forwards, and Mackenzie was rarely tested. The Ross-shire forwards appeared always to be the more dangerous and Webster had to deal with shots from Macbeath, Mackenzie and Birrell. The latter was playing good football, his passing and dribbling often bewildering his opponents. When Tulloch, outside right. got a clear field Mackenzie came out and brilliantly stopped the winger, saving a certain goal. Towards the close both keepers were kept busy. Mackenzie being prominent with clearances from Bowie and Mackay, while Webster showed fine anticipation in saving from Macbeath, Mackenzie and Macdonald. Both goalkeepers kept their goals intact during this period.
