| Match Report | Report from the North Star. Army XI 4 Ross County 2 Ross County were away from home on Saturday, 2nd, playing an Army Eleven. The County fielded a comparatively strong team, having three newcomers in Nicol, Hood and Wood, all putting up a good performance. The Army Eleven had a star player in their outside-right, and led by 3 goals to 2 at the interval, the County goals being scored by Hood and Birrell, the latter from a penalty. After the resumption County drew level with a well-taken goal secured by Macbeth. The play thereafter was very even, and the County were perhaps a trifle unfortunate to lose by the odd goal in seven, the goalkeeper partly saving the shot, which rebounded from the upright to the back of the net. Ross County were best served by Macbeth, who played a fast and forceful game at outside-right. Also prominent were Mackenzie in goal; Spence, back; and Hood, centre-half. The referee was Mr T. Maclean, Inverness, and the game was played in a thoroughly sporting fashion. |
