Peterhead 5 Ross County 0

Ross County did not travel at full strength to Peterhead. Macniel, J. G. Mackay, J. A. Mackay and James Ross had to cry off. This was somewhat disappointing, in view of the Qualifying Cup tie at Brora to-morrow (Saturday). However, quite good substitutes filled the vacancies.
Although winning by five clear goals, Peterhead did not impress. The Ross-shire players were late in arriving and the kick-off was delayed for forty minutes. Playing against a fairly strong breeze, County had the better of opening exchanges. Tarrell broke away on the right, but his centre went astray. Oliphant, at inside-left, set Peterhead's attack in motion with a long sweeping cross to Stewart whose header grazed the crossbar. Mid-way through the first half, Peterhead took the lead through Stewart. Livingstone placed a corner kick perfectly and Stewart, who was lying unmarked, made no mistake. Before the interval, County strove hard to equalise. Paterson, on the left, cleverly eluded Gerrard and was in the act of shooting when Townsley intervened to avert the danger.
County resumed as if they meant business, but, after Moir had stopped a Gowl effort, their defence faltered and the Peterhead forwards did not hesitate to take advantage of this slackness. A. Moir, inside-right, increased their lead with a lightning header and Wight, outside-left, added another off a Stewart pass. Before the end the home team brought the total to five. Sloan, left-half, after beating three opponents, neatly guided the ball past Spence into the corner of the net, and immediately afterwards he netted a fast rising shot.
