Keith 7 Ross County 1

The depleted Ross County suffered a crushing defeat from Keith, who were also under strength, at Kynoch Park, Keith, on Saturday. The County were outclassed from the start to the finish, none of their players revealing their usual form.
Macneil was in action right away, SGFHS smartly from Gill. The homesters continued to press, and a good chance went abegging when Campbell sent across the goalmouth, but none of his colleagues was on the spot. Ross County made progress on the right, but Bremner had no difficulty in clearing his lines. Within five minutes Keith opened their account, a Morrison cross being headed home by Campbell. A short spell of midfield play followed, and then Keith were again swarming round the visitors' goal. Ross County were seldom in the hunt. It came as no surprise when Gill added a second goal for Keith. Continuous pressure resulted in Maclaren scoring a third. At the other end a rocket shot by Bowie was tipped over the bar by Bremner. Keith went further ahead from a 1, Campbell smashed home a swift grounder. Fraser, who was playing his first senior game, was taking the eye at inside right for Keith, and Campbell and Maclaren, two schoolboy chums, were also giving an excellent account of themselves. Campbell completed his hat-trick before the interval. The only real danger to the Keith goal was when Bremner had to leave his charge to deflect a Mackay shot for a corner.
Keith resumed where they left off, in front of the County goal, and within a minute Gill put Keith further ahead. At this stage there was only one team in it, and the County goal had several narrow escapes before Fraser headed in a seventh from a Morrison cross. Ross County came away, and M. Mackay skimmed the bar. The homesters began to take things easy and toyed with the County. Keith gave the visitors a number of scoring chances which they failed to seize. A rocket shot by D. Ross was one of their best efforts, and Bremner did well to fist out. Keith had a number of corners but nothing resulted. The game began to lack interest, being too one-sided. In the closing minutes the County got the only crumb of comfort when D. Ross found the net. It was a poor game, Keith being top dogs throughout. The homesters were very pleased with their find in Fraser at inside right. He gave a capital display, and if he continues in the form he showed he will make a worthy successor to Jamieson, who has gone to Dunfermline.
