| Match Report | Report from the North Star. Elgin City, 10 Ross County 0 In this, their last league match of the season, Ross County received the largest defeat of their career when they were decisively defeated by Elgin City by 10 goals to nil. As may be judged by the score, the defence was woefully weak, the Elgin forwards having a fairly easy task in piling on the goals. The game was really won in the first ten minutes. Rothnie opened the scoring and Maclennan added another three in quick succession. Ross County were seldom in the picture, and even when near the home goal they never looked like scoring. Near the interval Maclennan added another goal to give his club a substantial half-time lead. The next half was a repetition, Elgin City being complete masters. Further goals came to the homesters through Cormack (2) and Gervaise, while Maclennan compiled a double hat-trick. This huge total might easily have been more but for Macneil's good goalkeeping, for he was in no way to blame for any of the goals registered against him. |
