Keith 1 Ross County 0

Keith avenged their defeat in the Scottish Qualifying Cup competition when they registered the only goal against Ross County in the Highland League on Saturday. A very large crowd at Kynoch Park witnessed a very rousing game. The visitors had slightly the better of the first half because they had the wind in their favour and they were soon testing Muldoonie. In the first minute, Bowie almost scored, a great shot just missing by inches. This was followed by a great attempt by Mackenzie. The pace set by the visitors was terrific, but, of course, it could not last, and gradually Keith came more into the limelight. They made several dangerous raids, and it was during one of these that Grant scored what proved to be the only goal of the match. Grant snapped up a cross. He was beaten by Macpherson, but, regaining possession, he neatly lobbed the ball into the net. Up till half-time, play was more even. Both defences were severely tested on occasions, and bad luck alone kept both teams from scoring. Golden opportunities went begging.
Keith, with the wind, resumed with great vigour, and for a time they bombarded the County goal from all angles, but the visiting defence rose to the occasion and kept the eager Keith attack at bay. A change came over the game when Grant was hurt and had to receive attention. Penrose was also injured but carried on. With ten men, Keith's fire in attack faded out, and the County pressed without success. Grant resumed at outside-right, but it was not until he went back to centre that play evened up again. In the closing stages, Keith again took the upper hand but failed to increase their score. Keith just deserved their win.
Keith was best served by Muldoonie, Paterson, Watson, Cowie, and Penrose, while the best for Ross County were Anderson, Macrae, Bowie, and Mackay. Mackenzie was well watched.
