| Match Report | Report from the North Star. Nairn County 4 Ross County 2 This game was played in a true holiday spirit, and at times some good play was witnessed. The Ross forwards gave a fine exhibition in the outfield, but their finishing was woefully erratic and weak. If they had only shown the least effectiveness at the goalmouth, the result might easily have been reversed. Defensive blunders gave the home team the opportunity to open the scoring within two minutes through Hendry. Then, a long shot from Wallace found the net, the visiting goalkeeper Mackay having misjudged the flight of the ball. After the change-over, Nairn went further ahead when Bockel, a junior, scored the third goal. The Ross side, however, replied through Ross. But Rooney, who was injured and moved up to the forward line, brought the home total to four. Again, Ross scored the second for the visitors, which closed the scoring. |
