| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Nairn County 2 Ross County 4 Ross County, by their splendid victory over Nairn County at Nairn on Saturday by four goals to two in the Highland League, have atoned for their home defeats—or nearly so. It was a hard-fought encounter. Ross always the more convincing, they were not long in gaining the lead. K. Macleod and Macpherson, Macpherson had a chance of further increasing the advantage, but his shot went straight to the goalkeeper’s hands. Nairn fought back gamely and with Gray having the measure of Trail, Donnelly and Fraser were a constant source of danger. Mackintosh reduced the Ross lead before the interval. Gray was at fault when he missed badly with an open goal. Morrison, with a smartly-taken goal, equalised the game, and this woke up the Ross lads. They kept Nairn constantly on defence, but it was with only eighteen minutes to go they got in front, Mackenzie, deputising for Aird, going through on his own to score. Almost on time Macleod made the points safe with another goal. Brett, Stewart and Anderson have been singled out for special mention in the defence, with Urquhart and Garrow outstanding half-backs, while Black, Cowie and Mackenzie get the honours forward. |
