| Match Report | Report from the Inverness Courier. Ross County 2 Elgin City 1 Ross County were worthy winners over Elgin City in the final of the Stuart Cup at Forres on Friday night. The game was keenly contested, with both sides playing typical cup-tie football. The only goal of the first period went to Elgin, with Maclennan being the scorer. Upon the resumption of play, Ross County were clearly superior to their opponents, and it came as no surprise when Cowie equalised with a well-deserved goal. Shortly afterwards, Aird put Ross County in the lead with a powerful drive from distance, which ultimately proved to be the winning goal. In the second period, Elgin missed the services of Dr. Bain, who had retired late in the first half with a head injury. |
