Ross County 1 Hamilton Academical 1

Ross County and Hamilton Accies could not be separated in their top of the table encounter as they shared a 1-1 draw at Victoria Park.
The Staggies took a deserved lead just after the half-hour mark courtesy of Dylan Smith, only for their advantage to be cancelled out within seven minutes by Accies winger Stuart McKinstry.
It means both sides remain unbeaten in their respective League One campaigns, with County still top with a superior goal difference.
Ross County manager Stuart Kettlewell was disappointed his side could not capitalise on large spells of dominance in their 1-1 draw against Hamilton Accies.
He said: “It’s frustrating when you look at the amount of opportunities we had, and the amount of time we got into their box.
“Their goalkeeper made a few saves, and I thought we were so dominant in that 30 minutes especially.
“After that, one error borrowed another.
“It was a really poor goal to concede from our perspective, but we knew Hamilton would come at us. I just thought that standing toe-to-toe, we were by far the better team.
“I don’t suppose many teams care about the stats. We just didn’t have that extra spark, that magic, that we’ve seen time and time again this season.
“This season when we catch fire, we tend to take the game away from teams, but one or two errors that we made led to Hamilton having a bit of incentive in the game.
“We gathered ourselves again, but I would like to see us squeeze that dominance and make sure we capitalise on what was complete control.”
The match, which drew widespread intrigue ahead of kick-off, lived up to its billing as a closely-fought encounter.
Given Hamilton had matched County’s barnstorming start to the campaign, which had seen them both record 10 wins from their opening 11 matches, the head-to-head record between the two sides could prove pivotal come the end of the season – but there was to be no winner in their first meeting this term.
Kettlewell named an unchanged line-up for the fourth match in succession, sticking with a winning formula which had brought about three victories, 16 goals and only one conceded.
The Staggies threatened to make a blistering start to the game, with Accies goalkeeper Dean Lyness forced to make a double save to thwart Kieran Phillips’ low shot and Richard Chin’s follow-up inside the opening minute.
County continued to work their way into dangerous areas, with Brian Graham seeing an effort blocked, while a Chin delivery from the right flank was well cut out by Lyness.
A lovely passing move on 15 minutes led to Phillips slipping a ball through for Graham, who unleashed a thumping low strike that Lyness did well to block with his feet.
It had been a promising start for the home side, but they were dealt a setback on 23 minutes when Lewis Strapp went down clutching his shoulder, with Josh Reid immediately brought on in his place.
Reid was heavily involved in the move which brought about County’s opener on 31 minutes.
He burst into the box with an excellent run before pulling the ball across towards Phillips who was unable to divert goalwards, however it fell kindly for Smith to thump a superb finish high into the net from 12 yards.
Despite making the breakthrough County proceeded to show some uncharacteristic slackness which allowed Accies back into the game. They survived a scare when a cross set up Kyle MacDonald for a free header which was held by Brad Foster, but Accies did get themselves level on 38 minutes.
It was a fine individual goal from McKinstry, who picked up the ball on the edge of the box before ghosting inside and producing a crisp low shot into Foster’s far corner.
The visitors ended the first half on top, but County registered the final effort before the break when Graham sent an effort into the arms of Lyness.
County looked to start the second half strongly, with a lovely flick from Graham releasing Phillips who was denied getting a strike away by a fine challenge from Tony Gallacher.
Some good work by Chin led to an clear sight of goal for Graham on 59 minutes, with Fergus Owens doing well to make a last-ditch block.
The Staggies continued to enjoy the majority of the ball, but were increasingly snuffed out by a sturdy Accies rearguard who limited their sights at goal in the closing stages.
The visitors made a late push of their own, with Foster having to make a fine save to palm away Kalvin Orsi’s header following a corner.
Substitute Jack Turner had the Staggies’ final chance in stoppage time, when he lashed an effort wide after Reid’s corner dropped into his path.
