| Comments | Match Report Report by Bob Mackinnon for the Press & Journal. Ross County 0 Arbroath 2 Ross County were on the receiving end as Arbroath made a flying start to life back in the First Division. Despite having to play most of the second half with 10 men, the gritty Red Lichties give nothing away. The visitors took the lead on the half-hour when the County defence failed to clear a cross from David McInally and Stephen Mallan netted from six yards. Kevin Heenan was unmarked at the back post when he extended the lead from a Steven Florence cross six minutes later. Arbroath's John Cusick was ordered off for a hand-ball offence in 63 minutes and County's best effort came immediately after when a 25-yard drive from Don Cowie rebounded from the upright. Delighted Arbroath manager John Brownlie said: "It's a great start to our season. "Our workrate was immense and the team spirit is excellent and we've got to built on that. "We knew it would be a very difficult game. They put us under a lot of pressure in the first 15 minutes but we defended well." |
