| Comments | Match Report Report from the Daily Record. Montrose 3 Ross County 4 Hat-trick hero Derek Adams swears he'll never forget the nightmare he suffered at the start of the season. The Ross County hitman lost his place in the team--and a stone in weight--when he was stuck down by a mystery stomach virus. After his second hat-trick this term fired County top of Division Three Adams revealed: "I first started to feel ill when I was travelling to Dingwall to play against Montrose on the first day of the season. "I told the boss, Neale Cooper, about it and he put me on the bench. I came on during the game but didn't feel 100 per cent fit. "After that I suffered diarrhoea and didn't eat for about four or five days. "I felt quite lethargic and I went to the doctor's a number of times but no one knew why I had the bug. ! ended up losing about a stone in weight end missed out on two gamed, so I'm quite happy to be back and scoring." Adams netted from the penalty spot after six minutes when Roy McBain was downed in the box. He buried a second spot-kick 22 minutes later after a foul on Ferguson but Benny Andrew pulled one back for Montrose in 31 minutes. Adams completed his hat-trick when he lobbed keeper Dave Larter from 40 yards in 49 minutes, but Montrose struck again on the hour when Kevin Tindal scored with a low drive. Montrose levelled through Colin McGlashan on 73 minutes but Roy McBain tapped home the winner from close range with six minutes left. County gaffer Cooper said: "We were absolutely outstanding in the first half and a joy to watch, although games like these are hard for managers to watch." Raging Montrose boss Tommy Campbell blasted referee John Rowbotham for handing County the two penalties. He said: "Those decisions were really shocking--I don't think they were penalties and they would never have been given at any other ground." |
