Ross County are keen to sign ex-Celt Danny Crainie in time for their Scottish League Challenge Cup tie with Albion Rovers at Coatbridge, which they hope today will be brought forward to this Saturday.
Crainie, released by Ballymena United, gave a sparkling performance as County kicked off with three home points in a 2-0 win over Queen's Park. But manager Bobby Wilson fears that Danny, who has been given training facilities at Celtic Park, could well attract an offer from a full-time club.
Bobby said: "Danny looked very good indeed and we've got to be interested in fixing him up ."
County and Albion Rovers have agreed to bring forward their cup tie, due a week tomorrow, to Saturday as neither club has a fixture. But Scottish League approval needs to be sought for the switch.
The Dingwall club will go into the tie without centre half John Johnstone Bellshaw, automatically suspended after being red-carded in the second half for a push on McCusker.
Queen's Park had earlier had Maxwell sent off as they defended dourly against a County side whose display was much more convincing than in their defeat from Arbroath the week before.
With the game still goalless, and 15 minutes remaining, Macpherson replaced Grant and in 80 minutes splendid work by Ferries saw ex-Montrose man Colin Milne crash home his first goal for his new club.
Billy Herd cleared off the County line in the last minute and they celebrated by scoring again, with Macpherson pouncing on a McGoldrick mistake.
