Albion Rovers 2 Ross County 2 (AET) Loss 3-2 on Penalties
Ross County will have to put on their Sunday best this weekend. For their Third Division fixture at East Stirling has been postponed for 24 hours. This is at the request of police who felt they would have problems as the Falkirk v Aberdeen match is also on in Falkirk.
County have offered no objection to Sunday soccer, but manager Bobby Wilson is looking for substantial improvement on the display which saw them bow out of the Scottish League Challenge Cup in a penalty shoot-out at Coatbridge.
"We were absolutely shocking" said boss Wilson "Rovers played for an hour with 10 men and still looked as if they wanted to win the game a lot more than we did."
County missed three penalties in the shoot-out, with ex-Celt Danny Crainie, Colin Milne and Billy Herd the sinners.
Crainie had his first one saved but the ref ruled the keeper had moved and he got a second chance only to shoot wide. Albion missed their first penalty, scored the next three and didn't need to take their last one.
Yet, the shoot-out could have been avoided for in the last minute of extra time Crainie hit the bar and substitute Jamie Macpherson six yards out, headed the rebound over the bar.
Joe McBride headed Rovers into an early lead but with 20 minutes to go ex-Montrose man Milne levelled with a fine swerving drive. Scott restored Rovers' lead in 86 minutes only for Gordon Connelly to equalise from close range in 108 minutes.
Home centre half Martin Ryan was sent off in 58 minutes for a second bookable offence but his teammates redoubled their efforts to give manager Jimmy Crease a real tonic.
