Ross County 5 Albion Rovers 1
Ross County manager Bobby Wilson has appealed to the Dingwall club's diehards to "get off Colin Milne's case".
The 20-year-old ex-Aberdeen and Montrose hitman was county's star turn with two goals in Saturday's 5-1 home demolition of Albion Rovers.
The result took County to a three-way tie at the top of the Third Division table and prompted manager Wilson to spring to the defence of his £10,000 close-season signing.
He said: "Some of our fans seem intent on giving Colin a hard time, possibly because he's keeping Brian Grant--very much the local hero with our punters--out of the side.
"But they can't possibly justify any complaints about Colin's performances. The lad had a sticky start when he first arrived but he's into his stride now and he's leading our line in great style.
"He's coping well with the stick he's getting from a minority of our fans but I hope the sceptics will get off his case now."
Milne put County ahead in 15 minutes and Jamie Macpherson scored on the hour. Young pulled one back for Rovers and keeper Mark Osbourne kept Rovers in the game with a penalty save from Macpherson. Milne grabbed his second and Grant, off the bench to replace Macpherson, helping himself to a quick-fire double as County romped home.
