| Comments | Match Report Report from the Press & Journal. Rothes 1 Ross County 2 Rothes manager Graham Scott arrived at Mackessack Park hot-foot from Majorca 40 minutes into Saturday's 2-1 defeat by Ross County. And he admitted yesterday that he thought he'd taken a wrong turning on the way home after watching the Speysiders put up a real battle before they went down 2-1. He said: "I honestly didn't think I was watching my side against Ross County because they did very well against a side which will be challenging for the league championship. "A 2-1 defeat counts for nothing but as a performance it was very encouraging and it gives us something to build on, especially with players like Davie Simpson and Derek Thomson still to come into the side." Alan DUFF fired County in front six minutes into the second half and Rothes replied through Andy THAIN on the hour. DUFF was on hand again in 80 minutes, but it took a superb save from Steve Hutcheson to stop Rothes snatching a point in the final minute. County manager Bobby Wilson said: "We always get a hard time when we go to Rothes and this game was no different because we lacked rhythm and fluency and Rothes battled hard all over the park. "I'd have liked a more positive performance with Caley due in Dingwall on Wednesday night in the League Cup, but we have the satisfaction of coming away with tree points from our first league game and that's the most important thing." |
