Ross County 1 Livingston 1
Ross County manager Malky Mackay believes his side are "moving in the right direction" after Kayne Ramsay's injury-time header earned them a potentially crucial point against Livingston at a snow-laden Dingwall.
Alan Forrest's low drive just after the break was a rare moment of quality and Livingston had an opportunity to seal the win from the penalty spot, but Ayo Obileye blazed over from 12 yards.
That allowed Ramsay the chance to nod in a long ball in the dying moments and snatch a point for County.
"It's a great point in the end," Mackay said. "We were lucky they missed the penalty but there's a never say die attitude.
"For us to come away with a point means it's one defeat in eight and just keeps us moving in the right direction."
The result means County remain 10th, five points off the top six and six clear of the bottom two having played a game more, while Livingston stay in eighth.
Torrid conditions in the Highlands resulted in an equally turgid exchange. As the snow pelted down, there was little in the way of opportunities for either team but overall it was the away side who dealt with the awkward environment best.
Referee David Munro waved away early penalty appeals as a James Penrice cross clearly struck the arm of Jordan Tillson but the official signalled the defender was too close to be penalised.
Joel Nouble went closest in the first half as he met Penrice's cross but glanced his header wide of the far post.
The half-time break brought some respite and the restart brought a rare moment of true quality. Odin Bailey stole the ball high up before Forrest took over and slammed low past Ross Laidlaw from the edge of the box.
Questions marks may be asked of the goalkeeper, given he seemed to get a strong hand to Forrest's effort but was unable to claw it out.
County rallied but struggled to create clear openings as Livingston weathered the storm in every sense of the phrase.
Forrest again went close as, following some wonderful work from Nouble, as his effort was cleared off the line by Keith Watson.
And that led to what turned out to be a defining moment as Penrice was bundled over by Regan Charles-Cook for a clear spot-kick. Up stepped Obileye who, after a tip-toed run up, smashed way over the bar.
Even with that glaring miss, the home side offered few signs they were able to muster a late retort.
However, as the final seconds ticked down a long, hopeful ball into the box by Blair Spittal was met by Ramsay, who climbed above three Livingston defenders and keeper Max Stryjek to nudge in and earn his side a point.
On a horrible night, it looked like Livingston were on course for a valuable victory which would have them looking up the table.
Instead, Ramsay's header means it's County who have earnt that good feeling and retain a decent gap to the bottom two, albeit they have played a game more.
Obileye's penalty miss was as egregious as what followed for the away side, who collapsed in the final seconds having, just about, done enough to secure the victory.
Ross County manager Malky Mackay: "When we're not quite at our best, which we weren't in the second half especially, we can be calm enough to know that we can still create chances."
Livingston manager David Martindale: "We've got a free shot from 12 yards and we don't work the goalkeeper, that's probably the most disappointing aspect of the game. I think it's two points dropped."
