| Comments | Match Report Report from Elgin City Website. Elgin City 3 Ross County 5 A battling performance against a very technical Ross County side saw the team go down 5-3. Ross County dominated the first half hour, going 3-0 up then adding a 4th on 44 minutes, but credit to Elgin City, they, Lauren Doherty, scored just on half time to make it 4-1 and was the boost they needed. A couple of tactical substitutions at half time and a formation change certainly brought Elgin City back into the game. Elgin began to hold there own and took more control of the midfield, player of the match, Carly Sewell playing a big part in this, and although they conceded a 5th on 61 minutes, 2 goals in 2 minutes, a second for Lauren Doherty and one for Jess Moore saw the scoreline end 3-5. A very sold performance again by Chloe Devine at the back, and the defence as a whole got better as the game went on. Up front both Lauren and Jess worked tirelessly, Lilly Morrison added some nice touches in midfield and Hayley Ross was another who got better as the game went on. The full squad was used and again team spirit was strong, with the heads never going down, maybe Elgin deserved more form the game, but this was certainly a learning curve for them as they go into a tough away friendly against Alloa next week down at the Indodrill Stadium. |
