Banks O'Dee 0 Ross County 2
Ross County secured their first Scottish Cup win in almost seven years as they saw off Highland League side Banks O’Dee at Spain Park.
It was actually the fifth tier side who had the first shot on target in the match, with Sam Pugh’s deflected strike forcing Ross Laidlaw into action.
However, it did not take long for an injury-hit County side to open the scoring, with Ronan Hale finding the net in the 18th minute after connecting with a cross from the right-hand side and slotting past former Inverness Caledonian Thistle stopper Dan Hoban.
That very nearly did happen shortly after the restart, when Phillips and Jordan White both had chances to shoot in a goalmouth scramble, with Banks O’Dee managing to escape without further damage.
County’s second did eventually come in the 78th minute, when White headed in at a corner to all but seal the result.
It was a first win in the competition for County since January 2019, when as a Championship club they sprung an upset against Premiership outfit Motherwell, and a first win in four across all competitions this season.
County’s name will now be in the draw for the fourth round, which takes place live on BBC Sportscene tomorrow evening.
