| Comments | Match Report Report from the Press & Journal. Cowdenbeath 0 Ross County 2 After Extra Time Two dramatic goals in extra time by super-sub Steven Hislop sent the Blue Brazil spinning out and put Ross County into the second round of the Challenge Cup. But the Fifers--newly promoted to the Second Division--made their First Division counterparts fight all the way. After 90 battling minutes, County took control in extra time. Hislop came on as substitute for Mark McCormick in the 82nd minute. Hislop struck with his first goal in the 96th minute, sending a low shot into the corner of the net from 16 yards. Then Hislop made absolutely certain of a Ross County win when he notched a second goal in the 106th minute--this time shooting home from close range. County had increased the pressure after the interval, with their full-time status starting to show. They made a substitution at half-time, bringing on Steven MacKay for Don Cowie. MacKay made an immediate impact and in 51 minutes he sent a curling shot over the crossbar. |
