| Comments | Match Report Report by Mike Tremlett for the Press & Journal. Ross County 1 Caledonian FC 1 Ross County and Caley will need to meet again at Telford Street on Monday night to sort out their Tennents Highland League Cup first round tie. Two goals in four minutes midway through the second half--Caley went ahead and then County hit back from the penalty spot--brought the game to pulsating life but at the end of the 90 minutes the issue remained up in the air. Mark McRitchie was the busier keeper, pulling off two fine saves in the opening 15 minutes from MacLeod and Duff, and he was right on the spot to hold off a powerful Connolly header on the half hour. After the interval Caley began to push forward and it was Steve Hutchison's turn to keep the scoresheet blank with good saves from Alan Hercher and Charlie Christie. A rasping 20-yard drive from Hercher had Hutchison scrambling to his left in 65 minutes, but two minutes later HERCHER made no mistake from 10 yards when he drove home a cross from Charlie Christie. Within four minutes, County hit back from the penalty spot, MACLEOD leaving McRitchie with no chance after Mike Andrew hauled down Duff just inside the Caley box. |
