Caledonian FC 5 Ross County 2
Flying winger Wilson Robertson was Caley's hero with two spectacular solo goals to steer the Telford Street team to their sixth successive win in a Press and Journal Highland League cracker.
Robertson's two cannonball shot started and finished an immensely entertaining 90 minutes.
Though County's Gordon Connelly was ordered off and five players were booked, it was far from a dirty game despite being played at breakneck pace.
County produced some sparkling leading up work--but Caley were their masters in pace, power and organisation with player-manager Sergei Baltacha pulling the strings.
Only in the closing stages, when Billy Ferries came on for County and created havoc with a series of menacing crosses, did the Dingwall side look like saving the game.
Caley started impressively and made the breakthrough in eight minutes when ROBERTSON cut in from the left and angled his drive past the keeper.
Caley's Dave Caldwell was booked for dissent and he limped off in 35 minutes. Then Williamson was booked for a tackle of Hercher.
A Minute from half-time, Caley scored again when Martin LISLE headed in a Christie free kick.
But County started the second half strongly and in 53 minutes Alan DUFF headed in Grant's cross to set the game alight again. Duff drove inches past as the visitors pressed and Connolly and Smart were booked in separate incident.
In 70 minutes, Lisle's fine low cross saw HERCHER fire the ball low into the net from close range to restore Caley's two-goal lead.
But, with 11 minutes to go, Connolly got his marching orders for back-chat to the referee, a second bookable offence.
Gordon Connolly will now miss the Qualifying Cup final against Huntly at Elgin on November 13.
A fine cross by Ferries was rocketed home by WILLIAMSON's head to set up a thrilling finish.
But as County pushed for the equaliser, they were hit by a superb late one-two. With three minutes to go, Robertson cut in and his drive was parried by the keeper only as far as CHRISTIE who slammed home the rebound.
The icing on Caley's cake came in the final minute when ROBERTSON embarked on a solo run to lash a beauty high into the net.
