| Comments | Match Report Report from the Press & Journal. Ross County 7 Fort William 2 Ross County coasted into the next stage of the Highland Office Equipment Cup despite a spirited fightback by 10-man Fort William. After cruising to a 3-0 interval lead and then adding a fourth from the spot early in the second half, County were hit by two goals after Fort's Dave Macdonald was sent off. DUFF headed County in front from a Ferries cross in 10 minutes and another perfect Ferries cross saw a rerun of the first goal, this time former Don Andy MACLEOD heading home. A brilliant solo counter in 39 minutes from defender Chris SOMERVILLE put County in at half-time with a commanding lead. Andy MACLEOD made it four in 52 minutes from the spot at his second attempt after Macdonald brought down Wilson. And Macdonald was shown the red card for talking back to the official. Then came Fort William's purple patch, with two classic strikes from Joe SMART in 56 minutes and substitute Alan MURDOCH three minutes later. But County regained their composure and goals from DUFF in 62 minutes, WILSON in 64 and WILLIAMSON two minutes from the end put a true reflection on County's superiority. |
