Rampant Ross County underlined their case for membership of the Scottish League next season with a runaway Tennents Scottish Cup first round rout of Southern Counties League club St Cuthberts.
Club chairman Hector McLennan, secretary Donnie MacBean and manager Bobby Wilson will travel to Glasgow on Thursday to make County's pitch to the league management committee.
And after Saturday's 11-goal cakewalk--a post-war Scottish Cup record for a Highland League side in a home tie--the Dingwall club will have a strong case to present.
County took just 25 seconds to open their account against shell-shocked Saints, who conceded the penalty which Brian GRANT thrashed home to start a nine-goal first half avalanche.
Within 15 minutes, GRANT completed a rapid hat-trick after Robbie WILLIAMSON made it 2-0 and County were four goals ahead with the tie and a second found date with Forfar Athletic at Station Park next month in the bag.
Alan DUFF opened his personal account in 25 minutes, a minute later GRANT grabbed his fourth and County's sixth counter then DUFF doubled his personal tally and two goals in a minute from Billy FERRIES had the Dingwall crowd celebrating a 9-0 lead at the interval.
By the hour mark, DUFF had completed his hat-trick and goal machine GRANT had gone nap before County took their foot off the gas in the last half hour.
"I couldn't have asked for more from my players in terms of attitude," said manager Bobby Wilson, who confessed to a bad bout of pre-match nerves.
"I was really on edge before the kick-off because I'd gone to great lengths to try and hide just how bad St Cuthberts were from my players before the game started. My cover was blown after just 25 seconds.
"Once the first goal went in we ripped them apart in the wide areas and made them look really naive. They just couldn't cope with us and the credit for that goes to every player in a County shirt."
County are now looking forward to a trip to Forfar on Saturday, January 8, to tackle a Sky Blues side which notched eight goals against Queen of the South in a Station Park first round tie which also produced 11 goals.
On a day when the number 11 assumed a curious significance at Dingwall, had the last laugh thanks to injured defender Steve Thomson, who travelled north to support his teammates on crutches and in plaster.
He travelled home £1.100 richer after correctly predicting the results in all seven of Saturday's matches which featured on the entry form for County's weekly Crackshot lottery.
