| Comments | Match Report Report by Mike Tremlett for the Press & Journal. Huntly 2 Ross County 0 Huntly plan to do some record-wrecking on the run-in to what will be just the second Highland League title in their history and a hat-trick for manager Steve Paterson. The former Manchester United player is on target to win titles as a player with Forres Mechanics, a player-manager with Elgin City and as a manager with Huntly inside a decade. Saturday's ominously comfortable win over Ross County at Christie Park removed another of the obstacles standing in the way of a title celebration which looks to be on the cards before this month is over. Goals from Gary Whyte and Marco de Barros were enough to see off a County side which looked ready to throw in the fiery state of Huntly's battle-scarred pitch. WHYTE tucked away an 18-yard shot on the half hour to send Huntly in 1-0 up at half time and, with County never looking worth an equaliser, De BARROS hammered in a volley in 66 minutes to kill off the Dingwall men. County tried desperately hard to produce the effervescent football which has been their trademark but the pitch did nothing to help and neither did Huntly's watertight back four, who gave keeper John Gardiner one of his quietest afternoons of the season. |
