| Comments | Match Report Report by Mike Tremlett for the Press & Journal. Fraserburgh 0 Ross County 1 Defender Scott Lemmon, side-lined since he broke a leg more than a year ago, could make his competitive comeback on Wednesday when league champions Ross County meet Nairn County at Victoria Park. The 26-year-old policeman, who has been playing his way back to fitness in the County second string, could get the chance to end a frustrating 13-month first-team lay-off. His chance could come thanks to an ankle injury which saw ever-present centre half Johnstone Bellshaw miss Saturday's 1-0 Qualifying Cup win over Fraserburgh. With the quarter-final tie against Cove just a fortnight away and Bellshaw's injury responding slowly to treatment, manager Wilson could involve the experienced Lemmon against Nairn County to ease him back into the action. Winger Billy FERRIES scored the winner in the fourth minute of a game which saw County dominate the opening half-hour and never lose their grip on a tie which they won well. "We could have been two or three goals ahead by half-time, but I always felt we could have stepped up a gear had Fraserburgh scored," said manager Wilson. "In fact, their keeper, Billy Gordon, pulled off two brilliant saves to keep them in the game during the first half and their younger players seemed to run out of ideas in the second half. "That win has set us up in what should be the tie of the quarter-finals against Cove Rangers with a place in the Scottish Cup at stake. |
