| Comments | Match Report Report by SPP Reporter for the Ross-shire Journal Ross County 3 Montrose 1 ROSS County's Irn Bru Cup ambitions are still alive as they made it safely into the quarter finals with victory over League One Montrose. The deadlock was broken after 20 minutes when Don Cowie's low pass from midfield was met by striker Ross Stewart. The former St Mirren man stayed on-side to run on to the pass and charged into the box before finding the bottom left corner from 15 yards. Davis Keillor-Dunn doubled Ross County's advantage four minutes before half time when he ran on to Jamie Lindsay’s through ball in the box and saw his first shot saved by goalkeeper Allan Fleming but made no mistake with the rebound from close range. But Montrose gave themselves a lifeline just before half time when sloppy defence from Ross County allowed a long ball from midfield to find Craig Johnston who chipped Scott Fox from 18 yards to make it 2-1 at the break. Ross County restored their two goal advantage six minutes into the second half when Keillor-Dunn grabbed his second of the game when he connected with a long ball from Lindsay in the box and fired a low drive past Fleming from 12 yards. |
