Saint Johnstone 1 Ross County 1 Ross County manager Jim McIntyre believes his side should have left McDiarmid Park with more than a point on Tuesday night. Craig Curran's well-taken opener was cancelled out by St Johnstone new boy Graham Cummins as the sides drew 1-1. "I felt in the first half in particular we had the clearer-cut chances, did a lot of things well," McIntyre told BBC Scotland. "We should have been more than one up at half-time." Curran is off to a flying Scottish Premiership start for the Staggies, netting twice on Saturday as McIntyre's men defeated Hamilton Academical 2-0. "He's carried on where he left off on Saturday and it was pleasing to see that - it was good link-up play with the two strikers and Craig's finished it off well," said McIntyre of Curran's goal. "He scored five for us last season and it took us a wee while to get his fitness levels up, but he's such a big player for us in terms of what he brings to the team and his overall game, not just his goals. "Those five goals he scored last season were very important, a lot of them being winners. He's played a huge part since he's come in the door and he's started this season in great form." Counterpart Tommy Wright mirrored McIntyre's sentiments, arguing that St Johnstone had done enough to secure victory after falling behind for the third time in the opening three league matches. "First of all, I thought both sides deserve a lot of credit; there was a lot of good play, but we just have to find a way of keeping a clean sheet," said Wright. "Again, I thought we played pretty well, created a lot of chances. "We probably feel we should have won it. Jim might think the same, but I'm happy with our performance going forward and to come back again shows the character, but it would be nice to try and take the lead in a league game. "At the start of the season, almost every little mistake can be punished and we feel as though that's happening to us, but overall I'm pleased with the performance and, if we continue in that vein, we'll get enough points to do well again this season. "All in all, it was a good game; I'm disappointed we didn't get the clean sheet - I think that's all we need and we'll start winning games." |
