Scottish Challenge Cup Final Airdrie United 2 Ross County 2 Loss 3-2 on Penalties After Extra Time Airdrie United won the Alba Challenge Cup by beating Ross County on penalties at McDiarmid Park. Marc Smyth scored the decisive spot-kick after four penalties were missed. County took the lead on 59 minutes when David Nixon deflected past his own goalkeeper, but Airdrie levelled in the 80th minute through Stephen McKenna. In extra-time Andy Dowie turned a cross into his own net to give Airdrie the lead, but Sean Higgins' headed goal took the final to penalties. |
