Airdrieonians 2 Ross County 2
Relegated Ross County squandered a two-goal lead to start their opening Scottish Championship fixture with a draw at Airdrie.
Akil Wright's bullet header beyond Cade Melrose on 20 minutes gave Don Cowie's side, who lost the Premiership play-off final in May, the lead.
Wright repeated the trick from a near-post corner moments into the second half.
However, Euan Henderson would score a brace of his own to earn Airdrie a point.
First, he slotted home Dean McMaster's threaded pass from a tight angle.
Then, after County keeper Ross Laidlaw was penalised for failing to release the ball within the new eight-second window and a corner was awarded, the visitors conceded a free kick, which Henderson flashed into the net.
Airdrie player-manager Rhys McCabe: "I'm not going to think too much of the negatives; the positive is the response in the second-half. To come up against opposition who are one of the favourites for the league when we're down to barebones is certainly food for thought."
Ross County manager Don Cowie: "We let ourselves down. We have enough senior players that when you go 2-0 up away from home you've just got to win the game. We stopped doing the things we did for the first hour to get ourselves ahead."
