| Comments | Match Report Report by Andrew Henderson for the Ross-shire Journal Ross County 0 Arbroath 2 Ross County were cut further adrift at the bottom of the Championship as they lost 2-0 to Arbroath in Dingwall. Goals in either half for the visitors from Jacob MacIntyre and Taylor Steven would bring all three points back to Gayfield. Although the game was being played at a decent tempo, it took until the 28th minute for the first real sight of goal. It fell to the visitors, with Jack Wilkie sending a cross into the middle for Gavin Reilly to head towards goal, looping just over the bar. Clear sights of goal remained few and far between, but Arbroath did break the deadlock in the 33rd minute. Victor Emem sent a low cross into the box from the right flank, falling to Jacob MacIntyre who skipped past the first challenge before slotting past Trevor Carson. County tried to respond quickly, and within a minute of the restart Jay Henderson flashed a shot just wide of the post from the edge of the box. Visiting skipper Thomas O’Brien had the next chance, swiping at a half-volley from around eight yards out and send the ball clean over the bar. Six minutes before half time Jordan White flicked a high ball on for Ronan Hale to run on to, but his shot was deflected behind by goalkeeper Aidan McAdams. Carson was called into action in the 68th minute to prevent Arbroath doubling their advantage, denying Brooklyn Kabongolo at close-range. Both teams exchanged chances, with White missing with a header and Taylor Steven sending a volley wide of the mark. Steven would have a decisive impact in the 83rd minute, cutting inside from the right flank and curling an effort into the far corner to make it 2-0 to Arbroath. With Queen’s Park defeating Airdrieonians, the Staggies now sit five points behind the rest of the division going into Christmas Day. |
