ROSS County held league leaders St Johnstone to a goalless draw as they remain five points adrift at the bottom of the Championship.
Airdrieonians and Queen’s Park both scored late equalisers as they also drew their respective matches with Arbroath and Partick Thistle.
Ross County made just one change from the starting line-up that were beaten 2-0 by Arbroath last week.
Alex Iacovitti was not named in the squad as Dylan Smith took his place in defence.
The Staggies were looking to end the year on a high note as they aimed to end their run of six league matches without a win.
Their previous victory was a 3-2 victory over Dunfermline Athletic at the end of October.
It was only one of two league wins they have had in the Championship all season along with 2-0 win over Raith Rovers also in October.
In a tentative first half hour, neither side really tested either goalkeeper with the closest to any goal coming from St Johnstone’s Jamie Gullan’s free kick which went wide inches wide of the left post from 25-yards out.
However, the Staggies had a great chance to go in front 10 minutes before half time when Ryan Duncan was unchallenged in the box to connect, with Jamie Lindsay’s pass from the right wing.
But his powerful low drive was parried by Toby Steward’s legs out for a corner kick which was dealt with comfortably by the visitors’ defence.
The visitors almost took the lead at half time when Josh McPake managed to fire a low drive from 20-yards out towards the bottom right corner. But Trevor Carson did well to parry the ball around the post to ensure the scoreline was goalless at the break.
The Saints almost scored right at the start of the second half when they surged up field and the ball found McPake unchallenged in the box. But his powerful strike was parried over the bar by Carson for a corner kick.
Captain Declan Gallagher’s afternoon came to an early end when he was forced off injured in the 58th minute and he was replaced by Jack Wells-Morrison who arrived at the club earlier this month.
The Staggies pushed for the opener and came close in the 73rd minute when Jay Henderson’s ball found Ronan Hale on the edge of the six-yard box.
But he nodded the ball straight into the ground as it bounced kindly for Steward to gather.
St Johnstone nearly won it in injury time when Morgan Boyes’s cross found Adama Sidibeh at the edge of the six-yard box, but his shot hit the crossbar.
